Winter Skin Blahs

Ah, tis the season for the annual dry-skin malaise to rise up.  Are you like me, and suffer with the dreaded itch-scratch cycle that will wake you in your sleep?

I have been searching for a cure for many years and tried so many different creams which never worked and this is where my best friend comes in (note: that this story is just one of the reasons we call them best friends!).  She told me about some home-made cream that her Mother had sent her and that it was a sure win for helping with winter skin.  I got to try it and honestly noticed a huge difference in the next couple of days.

A little research on the internet yielded quite a few different sites and found a wonder blog called Living The Nourished Life, got a recipe and off the the local store for items. You can find their blog at:

I opted for buying the Organic Coconut Oil and Bergamot Essential Oil.  I whipped up the Coconut Oil with a hand mixer and then after it became nice and frothy, I added quite a few drops of the Bergamot Oil and voilĂ !, I had my own cream.  I started applying it starting in November, when the weather became much colder and the air, drier. (Some people say that's impossible for being in Vancouver, but honestly, at home with the heat on, it does sap out the moisture).  Anyways, I put it on after a shower, I would recommend this as you will notice a slightly oily feeling when you put it on, but amazingly after a few minutes it will sink right in.   Here's a picture from livingthenourshiredlife's blog which also turned out to what I made.

The other thing about Coconut Oil is you can cook with it.  There are so many benefits, but one that comes to mind is helping to lower Cholesterol.  And Coconut Oil is one of the absolute best ways to treat your hair to a yummy, healthy and safe treatment for dry hair, itchy scalp or just dull tresses. Leave out the Bergamot and just put some through your hair, wrap it up or sleep on it.

Give it a try, you'll love it and sleep a lot better too.

My Fear Of Bobble-Heads

Is it just me or are you also freaked out by bobble-heads? As soon as I woke up this morning it was the first thought in my head. Freaky friggin' things, heads that are bigger than a normal head. And that discombobulated body and springy attachment.  The whole thing really gives me the creeps.

When I mentioned this to my partner, he taunted me as he is well aware that you can order your own "customized" bobble-head on the net. WTF?  Why would anyone want one? They're useless as a Pet Rock.  I get the Heeby-Jeeby's and goosebumps just thinking about a Bobble-Head army. Then again maybe I just need the mornings first cup of Joe.  My condolences to all the companies that make these horrid things; I bet they get nightmares too. Don't believe me? Check out their link at :

Then again, maybe you're one of those people who have a sick sense of humour and like to torment your better half or maybe even that family member who has done you wrong. Just a thought.

Opportunity Doesn't Knock

I was talking to a friend tonight about the random things that happen, your choices and how you meticulously carve out your path of life, even if you are unconsciously aware of it. I guess this is where hindsight comes from. Anyways enough of that philosophical, brain-sensory picking, toe-jam, let's face it.....

If opportunity doesn't knock at the door, kick it in and take it!!!

On the Lookout for that First Loonie

Everyone keeps asking me about how you would make a million dollars, I think it's easy, its just a matter of asking 1 Million people for a dollar and voila, there you have it, instant millionaire. Of course this opens to rounds of laughter, but seriously if you think about it, its the straightest line, albeit a silly one, that could actually work.

Maybe it's because of all the caffeine that I consume that drives my brain to think of these things that seem so simple to me, for others, it's an impossibility with a dose of "yeah right". I think they hope that somehow I will forget such a notion but its my way to stay positive and a belief that it can be done.  Cyber-begging 101 (at least that's what I'd call it), I mean if a guy can trade a paperclip for a house, then the proverbial "skies the limit" as far as I am concerned.
